Vinyl's All dental equipment manufacturers use or have used vinyl's. They are durable, withstand chemical disinfectants and are inexpensive. - Uniroyal invented the vinyl material. Their product line is call Naugahyde and is probably still the most commonly used goods on chairs. Here are three of their color cards, and these are three we prefer to use: Spirit Millenium Twilight Nauga Soft - Boltaflex also makes a superior vinyl material. We can get any Boltaflex goods, but prefer working with the goods mentioned above. Polyurethanes Newer on the scene are the polyurethane fabrics, like UltraLeather. They have a very nice, silky feel to them. They have been used since about 1990 and have proven over that time to hold up to wear as well as chemical disinfectants. Almost all the dental chair manufacturers are using Urethane goods as well as vinyl. However, they are about 3 times as expensive as vinyl, so you will always see a 'mark-up' fee for these luxury goods. - UltraLeather is distributed mostly from Gulf Fabrics in Florida. View UltraLeather color card on their web site. - There are other urethane materials available from many upholstery supply houses, often not as expensive as UltraLeather. Call and ask for more information regarding them. Other Materials There are other materials that have been used, such as Finesse and Luxor, and they are still available. However, they may not have held up as well in dental equipment applications, so their use was discontinued, as far as I know. **Please note that scanners and computer screens distort the actual color of any goods. While the color will be close, please request an actual cutting or sample to be sent to your office to confirm the color. Feel free to request as many cuttings or whole cards as you need! |
